1956 Pontiac Laurentian ( BIG AL )and 1956 Pontiac Junior
I purchased the car in 1968 when I was 16. This was my first car.I met my future wife in 1969 and we were married in 1972. In 1970 I installed a 327-300 Hp small block. The car was parked in 1971 and there it sat. In 1978 the car was painted to clear up an outstanding debt, and was then parked indoors until 1999 when I got the itch again. The motor was rebuilt and dressed up, a 350 turbo trans was installed and power steering. After driving it for a year, front discs were added to make it safer on todays roads. After driving it for the past 14 years we had the car repainted in 2012 ( what a job! ) We enjoy traveling with the car known as BIG AL, a name that by my girl friend and now wife came up with. It’s great talking to people about their first cars, and it’s great to know that WE kept BIG Al. The Pontiac Junior was purchased in 2007 and was rebuilt to match Big Al. The junior was a car designed to advertise the new 1956 models.
