MARK F 1966 Pontiac GTO 2dr Hardtop Coupe

FIRST CAR, 66 GRAND TURISMO OMOLOGATO

THE YEAR WAS 1976. I WAS WORKING IN THE MAIL ROOM DOWNTOWN IN AUSTIN TX.I WAS TWO YEARS OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL.DURING HIGH SCHOOL MY BEST FRIEND HAD A 66 GTO TRI POWER AND I WANTED ONE TO. ONE DAY I WAS WALKING TO MY JOB AND SAW THIS BLACK 66 GTO FOR SALE.I CALLED THE OWNER AND TOLD HIM NOT TO SELL IT TILL I COULD SEE IF I COULD GET A LOAN.HE SAID OK.I HAD NO CREDIT ESTABLISHED YET SO ALL THE CREDIT UNIONS AND BANKS SAID NO. I ASKED MY DAD AND HE SAID ABSOLUTELY NOT. HE WASN'T GOING TO CO SIGN FOR A PIECE OF JUNK THAT HAD BEEN RUN INTO THE GROUND.HE REALLY THOUGHT I WOULD GET INTO LOTS OF TROUBLE WITH THAT CAR.WELL TIME WAS RUNNING OUT FOR ME. THE OWNER SAID TWO MORE DAYS AND IT'S SOLD.MY FRIEND WITH THE GTO KNEW HOW BAD I WANTED THE CAR AND HE SAID HE WOULD CO SIGN FOR ME.I NEVER MISSED A

PAYMENT.MY BEST FRIEND AND I WOULD CRUISE ALL NIGHT IN MY CAR.HE HAD TO SELL HIS DUE TO FINANCIAL REASONS.HE BOUGHT A NEW 76 CAMARO. WE HAD A LONG STRAIGHT STREET TO RACE ON AND THEN PULL INTO THE DRIVE WAY BEFORE THE HEAT GOT THERE.HE LIVED ACROSS THE STREET FROM ME.I KNOW THAT WHOLE STREET DIS LIKED US FOR RACING LATE NIGHT, BUT IT WAS LOTS OF FUN.I ALWAYS WON AGAINST THE CAMARO.I LOVED AND CHERISHED THAT CAR.I STILL HAVE MY RIDE SITTING IN MY GARAGE.EVERYONE HAS WANTED TO BUY MY CAR AND I SAID I WILL HAVE IT TO I'M NOT HERE ANYMORE AND THEY KNOW I MEAN IT.I'VE HAD MY CAR FOR THIRTY EIGHT YEARS.IT'S NOT PERFECT BUT IT STILL LOOKS NICE ENOUGH TO TURN HEADS AND STILL FAST ENOUGH TO WIN MOST

OF THE TIME. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR.?I ALSO ADDED DISK BRAKES ALL AROUND.REBUILT THE MOTOR AND ROCK CRUSHER FOUR SPEED. NEW SUSPENSION PACKAGE. HEATING WAS A PROBLEM SO I WILL INSTALL A RON DAVIS ALUMINUM RADIATOR WHEN IT GETS HERE.REBUILT THE ORIGINAL STEERING GEAR BOX. THE ROCHESTERS ARE REBUILT AND RUN GREAT.I HAVE THE ORIGINAL RALLY 1 WHEELS.THE CAR IS BLACK ON BLACK.THE INTERIOR IS MY STOPPING POINT WHEN I FINISH THAT I'M THROUGH.
