My name is Hudson High. I was a junior member in the Golden Crescent Region AACA from 2006 until 2012. I had a '65 maroon and silver Mustang when I first joined, but unfortunately, I do not have that car anymore. As they say, you win some and you lose some.
My father and I started restoration on a 1959 Ford Custom 300 Tudor sedan in 2010, paying a man to perform the major paint and body work needed for restoration. However, like many things in life, it has been put on the back burner.
This car was given to me by my grandparents, both of whom are still alive. The car was theirs, and it was passed on to me when I was 13 (the year was 2003), due to my interest in the car. It had been sitting in their pasture in Zephyr, Texas rusting away. It wasn't until 2010 that my father and I were able to begin the restoration on the car. It currently only needs complete upholstery work, new tires, and a new exhaust system. It is so close to being finished!
The turn in the story begins here: my grandfather's (Popi as I call him) health is failing quickly as of late due to complications with diabetes. His dream since they gave me the car was to see it finished and to be able to take a ride in it before he passed. That dream still holds true 11 years later, and it is my mission to make that happen for him. He is the man who peaked my interest in automobiles, and indirectly led me to studying engineering at Texas A&M. Making this dream a reality is the least I can do for him.
I've started a fundraising campaign on gofundme.com. This is a strictly donation-based website where individuals can contribute any amount of monetary gifts to a certain cause or goal. I would greatly appreciate it if you could pass on this email to your followers on Instagram, Facebook, etc and provide them with the link where they can go online and help support this goal. The link to reach the site is here: http://www.gofundme.com/59custom300
Also, I have a blog where your followers can view the progress of the car documented here: http://totalrestoration.wordpress.com/
I appreciate your help in advance, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for helping spread the word on this story and goal!
