I was driving in my beloved '54 belair onvertible with my young (at the time) son, on his first trip in my classic chevy. He was really excited, as was I. We were cruising eastbound on the Long Island Expressway; it was a beautiful summer day and the roof was down. Upon accelerating to keep up with traffic (this was a six cylinder heavy car we are talking about), I realized that my foot had gone through the floorbourd and was almost on the pavement...not fun at 60 MPH. I felt like I was in a Charlie Chaplin movie! called my wife who then arranged for a flatbed to piuck up the car and us. It wasn't as long a ride as I would have liked but I continued to love my '54 Belair and enjoyed many subsequent rides that were far less adventurous, but great fun.
