I own a 1983 Hurst Olds with the Lightning Rod shifters. About 2 months ago, my wife and I went to dinner at an upscale restaurant with "Valet Parking".
We pulled up to where the valet was, he went around and opened the door for my wife so she could get out and came around to my side to get into the car to park it. Now the valet was about 20 years old. He got into the car and immediately got out and said "excuse me sir but I don't think I know who to drive this car.
What's with the shifter's? I told him they were a "sobriety test", if you couldn't use them you shouldn't be driving. He agreed and asked me if I would kindly park my car myself.
After finishing our meal, we proceeded to go out to the valet parking area. There was a different valet so I gave him the ticket. He got the keys out of the holder and went to get the car. About 5 minutes later he came "walking" back. He looked at me and said "you're the customer that Bill (the other valet) told me about with the car with the "crazy shifters" that you said were a "sobriety test". He gave me my keys and my wife and I walked to the car and left.
