I'm 32 years old, and as far back as high school, I always dreamed of owning a muscle car, convertible no less, because it's always funner with the top dropped! My first cas was a 94 Olds Achieva, nothing special, but from there my love for Olds started. As the years progressed and my car knowledge grew, there was no other dream car for me, but a Olds 442.
Over the last 4 years through shear discipline, I save up my work bonuses for my "muscle car fund". I'd always keep my eyes on the classifieds, to see what there was, to understand the values.
Last September, I found what I was looking for. It was a 1969 Olds 442 Convertible. It had a 455 (not 400) and was in decent condition, needed some TLC, but I loved the car. When I called the seller, he just put it away for winter storage.
So the long cold winter dragged on, and I always kept thinking of those beautiful summer days driving around with the top down. I followed up with the seller in April, the car was stil in storage and he was still selling it when it came out.
It came out of storage right around my birthday in May, we went up to look at it, and everything checked out (I've also looked at a lot of 442's that we're actually Cutlass's), he was happy to sell and I was happy to buy.
I've only had the car a couple months, but there's never a clear blue sunny day that it doesn't go out. Everywhere I go, I get the "thumbs up".
Maybe, I'm just a "old soul", but with the rest of my life ahead of me, I know I'll enjoy my 442 for many many years to come!
