Mark R 1966 Mercury Parklane 2dr Convertible

My First Convertible

Was a 64 Cadillac deville . I bought it in 1989 when I was 18. I paid $1500 for it, which is a lot when you make $8/hr. The carpet was someone's old living room carpet. I put sheet metal tape over the holes in the rusty bumper to make it look sharp! The exhaust was so leaky, I remember getting dizzy from the fumes at a red light when I first got it. I loved the wind blowing through my mullet, the stars above and oldies playing on that crackly original am radio. I sold it in 1991 but now I have a 64 eldorado awaiting restoration.

Impressive, for certain! I presume you fixed up the exhaust and eventually sold it for a nice profit!

Very nice. My first car was a 74 Mustang II. But, nothing tops my current 68 Ford Fairlane.

There is nothing quite like your first car! The feeling of freedom where the possibilities are endless. Many cars come and go over the years, but the first is one that a person seldom ever forgets.

Sounds like the car tried to kill you with fumes. Love it when you have a special link to a car like this. A what a fantastic first car.

Ah, nothing like that special first car, huh? I still remember my brother's first car, but it wasn't as nostalgic as that neat-looking Cadillac.

Nothing says 1980's Americana much like some rusty convertible Detroit Iron and a windy mullet. Cool ride dude!

What a gorgeous car! Being younger my first car was a more current vehicle. But I loves it nonetheless! Mine was a VW Beetle :)
