In 2004, my wife and I drove our '81 DeLorean to Las Vegas for a weekend getaway, and to have a little road trip fun in a classic car. One night we had dinner off of the strip, at a very upscale restaurant that only had valet parking, (much to my dismay).
When we were ready to leave, we were waiting for our car, standing near a huge black Hummer with all of the options and roughly 8 people laughing, talking loud and generally having a good time.
We had our backs to them watching for our D when we saw it driving out of the front lot where all of the high-end cars were parked. They had put it with the Bentley's, Ferrari's, Rolls Royce, and pretty much any other car that's worth more than a few years paychecks!
Anyway, as the driver was coming around, he opened the driver side gull wing door as he was approaching and it suddenly got real quiet at the curb. At the same moment, three people walked out of the restaurant and stopped in their tracks as another couple behind bumped into them. Seems all of those folks took notice of my little stainless steel appliance!
After generously tipping the valet, everyone watched us climb in and drive away and we had the biggest laugh!
I guess valet parking wasn't so bad.
