I've been working on a 1971 Dodge Charger that spent 20 years in a field before I got it. Been working on it for about a year and a half from the inside out. I wanted to make it safe and dependable before I addressed the beauty/cosmetic issues.
My last major project was rebuilding the front suspension and steering and needed to get it aligned before I put it on the road and put it through it's paces. Friday afternoon a few weeks ago my 5 year old daughter and I were at a local PDQ and she saw a flyer for a 4th Saturday CruzeIn which happened to be the next day. She said it would be really cool if we could take my car to it. I told her as long as I could get my alignment the next day at my local shop we'd be there.
Saturday morning I was at the shop @ 7:00 am. Out by 9:30 with my freshly aligned Charger. I spent the morning running errands around town to check the dependability and drivability. I picked up my daughter that afternoon and we ran some more errands and were @ the CruzeIn @ 5pm. I was a little disappointed that is mostly old couples in new Corvettes.
But I kept my promise to my daughter and have a fun date day on the Charger's Maiden Voyage and am keeping the dream alive in a new generation.
