When I was a little girl, my Mom took us to an actual drive-in movie theater to see the movie Corvette Summer. It was love at first sight for me since blue is my favorite color! I knew right then that someday I would own my own dream car which, of course, just had to be a corvette.
Since then I have had the privilege of owning 2 vettes! :) The first one was a burgundy 1981 model with T-tops that I used to drive my friends to Disney's Pleasure Island for dancing. That was a great car to drive to Daytona Beach too! However, it was not reliable and I was forced to trade it in when times got hard and my first marriage ended in divorce.
Currently, there is a blue 1975 Stingray parked in my garage. Unfortunately my new husband was laid off from his job 1 month ago, and we are unable to complete the restoration at this time. It is sooo close too. I might be forced to sell it to make ends meet. :( But my son, Jarrett, is my priority now and his best interests are my new dream. So, I've become his cub scout den leader. :)
My Mom is in Heaven now...she left us far too soon at the age of 63 from pancreatic cancer. I would trade all the corvettes on Earth just to spend one more day with her. So that is why my story is about a trip down memory lane. Somehow, someway, I hope to keep my corvette so that I can pass it down fully restored to my son for his high school graduation gift. He is only 7 years old, but I promised that if he does his best in school and earns a scholarship to college that we will give him a car.
