The 1963 Lark was the last restoration project my first wife and I completed before her untimely death in 1997 at age 44 from a now very treatable Lymphoma. The project kept us focused on the process we so loved, breathing new life into discarded buildings and vehicles, through those difficult times. This was Car number 4 for us I've lost track of the number of buildings. It was a crazy busy time but our restoration work gave us lots of time together. I had no idea how precious that time would be.
Fast forward to 2000 and my happiest memory of my first 4th of July parade & car show with the Stude & my newly adopted child "Sam,(pause) from China" as he would introduce himself in a very deep voice for such a tiny person. (see Picture). Sam appeared in my life with my new wife Suzyn (self referred as John's "last wife") of the last 16 years.
Sam, now self renamed "Skylar" is about to graduate from college. I can't resist the temptation to call him "Skylark". Once a car guy...at least he's retained his initials, "SLO", which I hope will inform his driving style.
