1970 442 Pace Car

I am an Oldsmobile Club of America member and 442 junkie. I have found a lot of cool cars over the years, some for sale in my price range-some not! The 70 442 convertible "Pace Car" was always one of those "can't afford" cars.

One Sunday afternoon in 2010 the phone rang and the guy says; "Hey you have a 442 ram air hood for sale"? I said yes...He says he has the whole car for sale for the same price I'm asking for the hood. And not only that he says;

Its a Y-74 PACE CAR"!

I got directions, borrowed a trailer and went to Riverdale, Georgia on a raining Sunday evening to get it. It was rough but a true 70 Olds "Pace car convertible" with the 442 option. They made some as a Cutlass 350 also. I took a friend also, never go alone in Atlanta after dark with 2500 bucks in your pocket.

For me, it was that "needle in a hay-stack" find! I don't know if it will ever be topped...

Maybe some day I'll find that 66 442 track pack car or a 69 hurst olds!

I tell my kids you never know what tomorrow will bring! Its encouraging and never know! Could be a treasure about to be uncovered.

    I am in the process of revitalizing my 68 Olds Cutlass convertible. I hope you will share with us the progress of your '70 Pace Car.
