Driving the 67 ID-19 out of Houston, the car just quit. After trouble shooting it, it was determined that the operating lever on the fuel pump had sheared off and fallen into the crank case.
Luckily the fuel pump on that model had a "priming" lever that allowed external pumping to prime the carb before starting. I died a piece of twine to the lever and ran it into the passenger side of the car. My wife was able to pump the fuel with a steady stroke until we got to our destination.
