There was quite a bit of rust on the front fenders of my "58 TR-3 when I got it in 1968. I decided to remove them to clean them up and fiberglass the rotted areas. It was standard procedure for the do-it-yourself college student. Of course a lot of the nuts were frozen and ended up being ripped out of their cages. When it came time to reassemble, I improvised by using toggle bolts and washers to hold the fenders back on the car. I've often wondered if the car made it into the hands of someone doing a proper restoration and what they though of that bodge. I still miss that car.
