Christopher S 1968 Mercury Cougar XR-7 2dr Hardtop Coupe

Unusual rarity?

So, I'm a 16 year old teen in WA, and in 2009 my grandfather passed away, leaving my family with his 1968 Mercury Cougar, XR-7, and we've been showing, except this year while we fix a mickey-mouse wiring job done by the previous resorer (not my grandfather, he hated wires), but throughout the past few years, people always asked me where my concole was, and its baffled me too! Last year at the anual Mustang Roundup in bellview, I talked to a man who thought it could be a "console-delete" car... I've talked to WCCC (West Coast Classic Cougars), and they had nothing on it, as well as many other sources. I'm wondering if anyone else has this particular issue, because I'm very curious if mercury built a "console-delete" car, or more! I'm looking forward to driving it more and more, but gotta fix the darn wiring (I take after my grandfather when it comes to wires), and then its back to driving. I hope someone out there knows something about this, because it looks as if a console was never installed.
