I had just returned from an overseas assignment and made my mind up I was going to use the money I saved the buy me another Mustang. I say another because in the past I have owned a 1965, 1966, and 1967. I was going through the antique car section of the local newspaper and spotted the ad "1969 Mustang Coupe "partially restored.....
I made arrangements to meet with the gentleman on a Saturday morning at his residence. The car was the original canary yellow with a black vinyl top. Not much to look at let me tell you! I opened the hood and his explanation of partially restored was a completely rebuilt drive train! Like new engine and transmission. Two seconds later I asked him what was his higher offer so far and he said, $1400.00. I replied, I've got $1500.00 on me, deal!
Driving it home was an experience in itself because the wheels were out of line and wobbled, the brakes were almost non existent and it was a bear to stop! Keep in mind, this model was drums and shoes all the way around.
Since that day I have completely redid the entire vehicle from top to bottom, new almost everything! It's a car that when you drive it, you have to drive it! I take it to shows during the summer and it is the only 1969 Coupe on the lot.
I'll have to post the pictures later.
