I love to cruise the back roads and alleys in the summer on my motorcycle. One hot summer night I was cruising the alleys in the part of a town I probably shouldn't have been in, when I came across a car covered in an old barn. Old muscle cars have always been a passion of mine and my wife and I used to love to restore old Shelby's. We have been out of doing this for quite awhile as life gets in the way. Anyway back to the alley, I could make out a Camaro under the cover, so I knocked on the door of the house next to it. I really didn't expect anyone would answer, but an older gentleman answered the door. I asked him if that was a Camaro in his barn and if he would mind me looking at it. He was more than happy to show me his car that was under the cover for over 17 years. When we pulled the cover off my jaw dropped as it was an unrestored 69 396 375HP SS Camaro with a turbo 400 transmission. I asked him if he would be interested in selling the car after I examined it. He agreed so the examination started. The car was completely original except for the tires and battery. A very pure numbers matching car without any rust what's so ever on the car. It had a little more than a 100K on it and even the interior was in good shape.
That was about 10 years ago and I am still in the process of restoring it. The engine, transmission, undercarriage and frame have been restored. I am waiting to do the body and interior as I enjoy driving it now and I don't want to worry about it on the roads.
So keep looking in the back yards, garages and barns you never know what might pop up.
