Chris C 1990 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II 4dr Sedan

The Rolls-Royce SZ platform (1980-1997) has been my favorite Rolls-Royce body since I first saw it as a kid in the early 80's. Since then I promised my self I'd own one some day, even though they'd be "out of vogue" by the time I could buy one. During those years too, I really enjoyed hanging out with my Grandma, who is a fan of all things British, including prim & proper british television. I came to love one of her favorite shows (Keeping up Appearances), so when I found my midnight blue Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II, her classic lines and refusal to deviate from conservative tradition in the face of a changing auto world made the name selection easy--the main character of the old BBC TV show.

In order to properly celebrate finally buying my dream car, my grandmother was present the day we picked Hyacinth up, and enjoyed the first road trip home in it with my wife and son.

I love your story and your car Chris. I have my own classic British steel but naturally am always window shopping for others to join the stable, knowing full well i am unlikely to commit. If my resolve did break i would undoubtedly go for a Silver Spur or its Bentley kin. As a post-script, being an expat with fond memories of that TV show, i think your namesake character would be very impressed by your choice given her 'aspirations'.
