I purchased this 1980 Oldsmobile Starfire that had the Frienza package on it in 1990 off my next door neighbor for $400 dollars. The only thing wrong with the car is it needed a good tune up to smooth out the ideal. I gave the car to my oldest daughter to drive for her last year of high school and first year of college.
I then gave the car to my youngest daughter who drove it her Jr and senior year of high school. Unfortunately she ran the car out of oil and cooked the motor.
It was such a unique little car, only 1270 made with the Frienza package, I decided to restore it. It took be about two years by myself to rebuild the engine and grind all the rust and body fill and paint the car in the back yard.
After it was complete I didn't know what to do with it as it was only valuable to me. I decided to use it for armature road racing and joined EMRA (Eastern Motor racing association)
I have been racing it ever since. Over the years I installed a big cam, headers, four barrel, Camaro valve springs, stiffer springs and bigger sway bars. My last change was to lower the car 2-1/2". I truly got my $400 out of this unique little car.
Oh yes, its name is the "skunk mobile” from my youngest daughter because of its white paint and black stripe !
