On July 6, 1967, I purchased a 1967 Mustang Coupe equipped with a 289 2bbl, automatic, black with a parchment interior for the amount of $2,700.00 from Jericho Ford of Mineola, NY. I drove the car for nearly 28 years every day to and from work. At some 135,000 miles we decided to do a bit of restoration and "remodeling." The original 289 was bored .30 over, 351 Windsor heads were bolted on and forged crank and pistons and a full race cam were installed along with a 4 speed. Floors and quarter panels were replaced along with the interior which was changed to black.
My wife and I became involved in a bitter divorce and unbeknownst to me, the car was sold. By the time I found out several years had passed. Upon my retirement I came across an old registration certificate for the car and thru DMV I was able to locate the guy who purchased my car. He no longer had the car, he had sold it and gave me the name and number of the guy who had bought it from him. The car was in San Diego CA. and I reside in NY. I contacted him and convinced him to sell me my car back which he did.
Since its return I have added front disk breaks and have had the body redone and repainted at a friends shop. Every time I take it out, people are making me ridiculous offers for the car, one being a 2013 Musting GT 500. I have turned them all down and will continue to do so. It is the first car I owned, the car I took my road test on, the car I drove my children home from the hospital in after they were born.
