Mike L 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass 2dr Holiday Coupe

My favorite Ride Again.!

All through High School I drove a white 67 Olds Cutlass Supreme.

Two weeks before my 20 class reunion I located another white 67 olds Cutlass, I purchased the car on the spot and drove it to the class reunion (Class of 1976) July 7th 1996. The guys couldn't believe I was still driving that old olds that I had in High School, and I didn't have the heart to tell them different.

The following Thanksgiving a drunk driver T-boned my 67 in downtown Punxsutawney, the car was drivable but you had to crawl out of the passenger side due to the damage on the driver's side door and front fender. I took the car home and parked it in the field next to my house. The car sat for many months without being driven. One wintry day I decided to sell the car, I had a guy come to see the car and make an offer. When I tried to start the car the motor was locked and the buyer lost interest. My brother and I towed the car into my heated garage to let the 2 feet of snow melt off the car. I got a breaker bar and socket to turn over the motor with and every day I would try and turn the motor. At first I could only get the motor to move about a 1/4 of an inch back and forth. After 2 weeks of oil down the spark plug holes and my constant coaxing with the breaker bar I was able to turn the motor over freely. I had my brother Jeff help me again with the car and we put a new battery in and left the spark plugs out. When I hit the key the motor turned over like it was on steroids splashing oil all over the garage. Next we installed new wires and spark plugs and changed the crankcase oil and filter. With the mess cleaned up we were ready to start the olds, I hit the key and the motor started with in 3 revolutions. Blue smoke rolled out the tailpipes for quite some time, but finally cleared and never smoked or used oil again. I replaced the front fenders fixed the driver's side door and had the car repainted and still drive her today.

Nice story and good to have a brother as a friend. My brother moved to Florida over 10 years ago but before we always had car projects, I miss that.
