My wife ordered this car in January and took delivery of it in February, 1969. Her father encouraged her to order the Mach 1 option for the heavier handling suspension. She was teaching business classes and was senior class sponsor at a small High School. The older boys were quite impressed with her new car.
We met in December, 1969, shortly after I returned from Viet Nam. Since the Mach 1 was a better car than mine we often drove it on dates. We were married in July, 1971, and soon sold my car since we could only afford one car on our budget.
By 77 the Mustang was showing its age and became our second vehicle. In 1980 it was parked in our machine shed. By 2005 both kids were married and on their own and the Mach 1 moved to the top of the to-do list. Body work and paint was completed in April, 2008. The engine was soon installed and the Mustang was on the road again by the end of June, 2008.
We enjoy driving the Mach 1 on special occasions and showing it at area shows. We enjoy visiting with others about the car and hearing all the stories about the one they should have kept.
