“Dream Ride, Purley Blue”

This is the blue placard that displays in my windshield at all the car shows that 'we' go to.

“PURLEY BLUE”

1968 Plymouth Sport Satellite, B Body, Hard Top.

This is my “Street Rod” . . . .

The dream ride I wanted 40 years ago when I had all those little kids . . . .

Now, those same “little kids” have gotten together and restored “my ride” . . . .

With “Chrome Generator . . . .

Chopped Dipstick . . . .

Full Race Windshield Wipers . . . .

High Compression Floor Mats . . . .

Baboon Tires . . . .

Fuzzy Dice . . . .

and Very Comical On Gas”. . . .

IF you are a “Mopar Judge”, looking for “matching numbers and correct date stamps”, just walk on by, and have a nice day. . . .

Otherwise, stop a moment and share my

“Dream Ride, Purley Blue”

About five years ago, my ride was showing it's age with some rust bubbles around the wheel wells and faded paint. The chrome was no longer close to perfect, and a couple of cylinders were down in compression.. . . . . . My oldest son (of 4) picked up my car, put it on a trailer and hauled it to his home about 5 states away. . . . . I thought he was going to install a little 'Bondo' and touch up the paint . . . . . Well, I didn't see 'old blue' again for about 2 years. . . . . Unknown to me, he had talked his brothers and sisters into 'chipping in' and 'restoring my ride'. . . . The next time I saw 'old blue' it had new complete quarter panels and inner wheel wells, trunk floor, new bumpers, wheels and disc brakes. . . . . .The old 318 was now 'rather healthy' with new pistons, warm cam and 4 barrel carb. . . . . . breathing through ported and polished heads, headers, and a custom made stainless exhaust system with an 'X pipe' and electric servo operated exhaust cutouts !. . . . . AND, on top of it all, an outstanding custom paintjob with 'electric blue, pearl, metallic paint with a little metalflake in 3 coats of clear topcoat, water sanded and buffed. It has a new (genuine HEMI) hood with a '318' emblem insert when the hood is open at a carshow, and a 'HEMI' emblem insert used whenever the hood is closed on the street. . . . . . That 'wards off' Camaros and Mustangs at the stop lights. . . . . .

'Purley Blue' has a shelf full of trophies including a third place in class from the 'All Chrysler National Carshow' in Carlisle. . . . . .

And I just might have about the best kids in the world. . . . . . . . Jerry
