John M 2013 version of 1965 A.C. Cobra

A favorite on my bucket list.

I've always liked the early Ford A.C. Cobras, but I've always been a Chevy guy. I found this car on a web site and it was almost finished. The thing I liked about it is it has a LS1 Corvette (Z06 ) engine, and a modified 700R4 transmission all on a 1985 (C-4) Corvette chassis. The paint is 2010 ZR1 gray with silver stripes sitting on 18"corvette rims on the front and 19" on the rear. It also has a Dana 4:11 posi-traction rear end. all of the above has been rebuilt to perfection. I designed the bumpers and worked with a fabricator to produce the ones you see in the picture(no visible weld joints anywhere,) Added the custom sunvisors and the mirrors and a custom made tonneau cover. I have a killer stereo to add and a custom console

Then I can take it to the car shows. I grew up in the 50's and 60's and this really takes you back when you take it for a drive. I live in south Florida so it's a year round adventure.

You may need a correction. Having owned a C-5 Z06, the engine is an LS6 not an LS1. The LS1 was the standard Corvette engine from 1997 to 2004. Still low 13s in the 'Vette - not bad at all.

When looking in the want ads in '67 for a Stingray I saw an add for an original '65 289 cu. in. Cobra for $3500 in the Detroit News. I thought about going to look at it, but didn't. I did pay $3500 for a customized year old '66 Corvette, it was beautiful.
