In 1964 I was a junior in high school and lived next door to a boarding house on the Oregon Coast. Each day I walked down the street to catch the school bus and had to pass by the brand new Sunfire Red 1964 Pontiac GTO parked in front of the boarding house. It belonged to a US Coast Guardsman that lived there. I would stop and just drool while checking it out, one day I was looking in the window eye balling the floor shift and black interior when the guy came out to see what I was up to. I told him that I really liked his car and he opened the door and told me to hop in......I really wanted to but was told to never get in a car with a stranger. He said that some day he would give me a ride if it was OK1964 pontiac with my folks. It wasn't long after that day that on my way by the car was gone and I never saw it again and assumed that he must have shipped out to another port. I just about cried and missed that car something awful.
I always wanted one just like it but never had the means to acquire one but I am still wishing and holding onto the memory!.....she was a beauty!
