Market commentary
About 50 examples of this unusual car, appropriately called the Rollerskate, were built in Colorado and sold to customers 80% assembled in the 1990s. Like a Bugeye, a Lotus Elan and a Caterham all rolled into one 1,700-lb rotary-powered car. The market for spartan, specialist roadsters like this isn't really easy to gauge, but you can't touch a Caterham for this kind of money, which makes the Rollerskate seem like a fantastic value. Comparable transactions are missing, so the Harrisburg bidders were on their own and seem to have been in accord with the seller.
