Equipment
Pioneer cassette, A C, P W, Pioneer equalizer. U.S. Gray Market label (imported May 84 by Whitten Yount.) Fair older repaint with some dust motes in it, looks good in all Silver without the black sills and wing. Good original interior. Good door and panel fits. Nice car. Catalog says it is all original, has only 2,826km from new, is a 1983 model and described it as the 1983 New York Auto Show car.
Market commentary
Sold at the Barrett Jackson Los Angeles auction in June 2002 for $62,500 in essentially the same condition in which it was presented here. The history is all wrong and largely inexplicable. It was built in May 1984 with a miles speedo, picked up on June 5 at Ferrari by Gerald Roush, federalized by Amerispec and sold to Whitten Yount. As a gray market Ferrari it would never have been on any NY Auto Show display, much less one held 18 months before it was built. Its been painted. It was offered by Symbolic in 1994 with 5,000 miles. The odometer showed 6,395 miles when I inspected it at B J LA in 2002 and in early 2003 it was offered by Heritage Classics with 6,502 km sic. Its all very fishy, and makes little sense for an otherwise attractively presented 512 BBi.
