Equipment
RHD. 3 liter V 8, Lucas fuel injection, Avon race tires. Driven by Andrea deAdamich and others in the 1972 championship, finished 4th at Le Mans driven by deAdamich and Nino Vacarella with podium and top ten finishes at Daytona, Brands Hatch, Nurburgring, Monza, Imola and Hockenheim. Mechanically rebuilt in as raced condition in 2006, apparently unused since and very orderly if used. An heroic example of Alfas attempt to vanquish Ferrari, with a credible finish at Le Mans to burnish its stature. Guaranteed entry in the 2012 Le Mans Classic.
Market commentary
Curiously, but not at all surprisingly, another Alfa 33, a TT12, shares this chassis number and was offered by Poulain and Sothebys at Monaco in 2001. This is the definitive and most successful model in Alfas final attempt at building a competitive sports racer, a wonderful car with loads of patina and a sound that makes angels swoon. It brought a reasonable price, about 2 3 of a comparable Ferrari 312PB.
