Condition
#3 Good
Runs and drives well. Flaws not noticeable to passersby. Most common condition.
Numerous scratches and detail swirls throughout, and the paint is scraped away in the passenger's side drip rail. Brightwork is starting to dull and shows scratches. The bucket seats are quite dirty and worn with the door panels dirty as well. The carpet shows slight wear. Engine compartment is dirty and not detailed. Underbody has a moderate amount of dirt and wear. Totally and charmingly original, and represented with 16,705 actual miles. One of the stars of this sale and a must-have for the Ford collector who values originality.
Market commentary
This Boss Nine is more original than pleasing. In fact it's somewhat nasty. And the 16,705 miles represented from new are nothing extraordinary with Boss Nines. For a long time no one paid much attention to them, then they took off about ten years ago, settled out and now are again gaining strength. Engine guys love their Semi-Hemi V-8, but that's about all that commends them to collectors. There's no history with this Boss 429 to support its originality or its low miles, qualifications that make it expensive at this result.
