Equipment
427 bored to 492 cubic inches, 550hp, 594 lb ft, dual quads, 4 speed, Magstar wheels, aluminum radiator, tach, clock digital AM FM cassette, inboard headlights, rear brake vents. Documentation includes: SAAC registry, dealer invoice, Shelby American warranty work, Ford production order, shipping invoice, Carroll Shelby Engines certificate for the modified engine, engine order sheet and build sheets. Well documented, but all to prove conclusively that its not how it started life. Good paint, interior and chrome. Largely like new with some signs of aged restoration and in need of a cosmetic update.
Market commentary
Consignment 6676. Man, this seller must be kicking himself all the way to the junkyard to look for a 428 motor to put under the hood of this GT500 in place of the 492 Carroll Shelby Engines lump he paid a fortune for. It is safe to say that there are far fewer prospects for a modified 427 powered GT500 than there are for a GT500 with a replacement engine of the correct type. And theyre probably willing to pay more for the correctly configured 428 than for the mega dollar 427 motor. A bad decision that can only be rectified by spending even more, or taking the loss.
