Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Chrome paperclip rollbar, Halibrand style KO wheels, grille guard, Black side exhausts. Presented as one of 4 33XX Cobras built with the 428 engine which is damning with faint praise if there ever was. Now powered by Holman & Moody sohc 427 Ford, one of the great all time engines. Well restored and presented but showing its age. Saturday Prime Time.

Market commentary

Send packing on the block at a high bid of $177,500 and announced as asking $225,000, eventually closed by Rhonda Madden and her crew in the Post Sale Lot at this price. Its a neat coil spring Cobra with a great engine. If Carroll could have gotten sohc engines, dont you think heda used em Not a great investment, perhaps, but open the hood and any engine guy (including yrs trly) will break into a big smile. Price is a good compromise between originality (and that porky 428) and performance.
