Equipment
Black Fuchs wheels, rally lights, roll bar, Plexiglas side windows, fiberglass doors, hood and fenders. Completely original as liveried in Gulf colors apparently for use in filming Le Mans. Possibly the 1967 Monza 10,000 miles record setting car (130.67mph). Sold to Jo Siffert in 1970 with two subsequent owners. Engine rebuilt at some point but otherwise just as it was in 1971, complete with race inspection stickers.
Market commentary
So, whats the tradeoff between originality and condition The bidders here in Monaco differed markedly with the consignor on the answer to that question. Like 11890020R offered by Brooks at Quail Lodge in August 2000 (a $200,000 no sale), it takes the right combination of Porsche fanaticism, money and condition to place a 911R in a new home. The +240,000 bid today is barely more than the offer for 11890020R five years ago (+221,200) and this 911R has better history and much more originality. Both were in pretty crummy shape.
