About Hagerty’s condition ratingsClose

There is 39525 miles on the odometer of this GTO. It is nicely optioned with P/S, P/B, power windows, deluxe wood wheel, in dash clock, and Hurst his and her dual gate shifter. It rolls on Rally I wheels with Mercury HP 4000 RWL tires. This is an older restoration and the light blue paint on this car is well applied and buffed to a deep luster but the rear deck lid had a few chips and some cracking in it. There is a hand painted pinstripe that runs the length of the car and really pops with the newer white vinyl top. The top looks like it has been stored for sometime down as it is wrinkled and has some mildew present, otherwise fit is good and the top frame has been restored and painted. Front bumper chrome looks original with some light patina you notice up close but still has nice luster. The rear bumper looks original as well with some light patina and fit is a little off. Other them that the body panel fit is good and consistent. The remaining stainless trim has been polished and restored to a nice luster. The under body of the car is unrestored but the trunk and floor panels are clean of rust with no indication of repair. It has been treated with a light coat of undercoating underneath, and looks well maintained with a new fuel tank and new factory style exhaust. The white interior has been restored with new seat upholstery and door panels and new black carpet and dash pad. There is an aftermarket radio in the dash and while the dash was not cut the fit is poor. New aftermarket kick panels with speakers have been installed. There also is a set of after market, under the dash mechanical gauges installed to monitor engine vitals. There is a slight mildew smell in the car and I suspect it has been sitting for awhile. Under the hood sit a 400 V8, engine code YE, with a 7/68 date code and #15 cylinder heads so it is a engine out of a 1968 passenger car, not numbers matching. It is topped with a Quadrajet, but intended for a Chevrolet application and there is no choke. It has a newer GM HEI ignition with Accel plug wires and the front brakes have been updated with a CPP brake kit.The engine compartment is a little dusty but had been nicely detailed at one time and some gentle clean up would go a long way. This car with a couple weekends of tinkering and cleaning could provide the new owner with a great top down driver.
