Equipment

Chrome wire wheels, Becker radio. Two owners from new; same owner since 1968. Covered headlights. Shown at Pebble Beach in 1989, otherwise very nicely maintained and showing only careful use and little age. Probably repainted before its appearance at PB and still shows very well.

Market commentary

Christies sold 9889 for $634,500 (+577,400; this transaction is +736,000) at Pebble Beach in 2003. It was in comparable condition but had nowhere near this examples originality or two owner history. The bidders today were on this 365 California like flies on fresh meat and it was by far the star of the event, bringing a hammer price 25% over the high estimate.
