Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

One year 1.5 liter flat 12 Formula One car, driven by John Surtees in the German GP (DNF, gearbox) then with revised heads by Bandini at Monza (4th) and Pedro Rodriguez at Mexico (7th). Bought by Chinetti after being refurbished by Ferrari at the end of the 1965 season, then by the consignor in the early 90s. Still exactly as delivered by Ferrari to Chinetti and not run or used in years. Very original, casually painted in NART livery and will need comprehensive preparation and updating before being historic raced.

Market commentary

A very rare and particularly neat looking Ferrari F1 car with an engine that should make particularly shrill and thrilling music, like a whole grid of 125cc GP motorcycles in one shrieking package. Its appearance in Historic GP will be worth waiting for.
