Equipment
Pontiac overhead cam inline 6 cylinder, 4 speed, Hurst shifter, pushbutton radio, styled steel wheels. Mostly original and unrestored, looks like it has had a coat of clear sprayed over the original paint to preserve it. Chipped edges, cracks on cowl and hood, chassis dirty and apparently untouched. Hood warped and uneven; headlight doors not flush. Good original interior and chrome. An interesting piece said to be a proposal for a small 2 seat sports car for Pontiac which was not approved for development and production. Saturday Prime Time. No Reserve.
Market commentary
This is a very neat piece of history; How many times has Pontiac tried to sneak a two seater through the GM bureaucracy, only to end up with the Fiero One can only hope that Solstice fares better. Amid the concept and show car hype at B J the bidders overlooked this thoughtful concept with its 165hp six and the buyer came away with a good value in a car with an intriguing history. Well bought.
