Equipment
Imperial Maroon over biscuit leather. 3781-cc, 265-hp L-6. 4-speed manual. Wire wheels, Dunlop tires, and wood-rim steering wheel.
Condition
#3 Good
Runs and drives well. Flaws not noticeable to passersby. Most common condition.
Older restoration. Represented as matching-numbers engine, but the 4-speed is from a later 4.2-liter car. Also represented as refurbished 10 years ago. Some light cracking in the driver’s seat. Interior otherwise looks clean and correct. Engine bay and underbody look tidy but are starting to show age and use. Top fits snugly. Paint looks good. Comes with spare. Videos in the listing show the oil pressure gauge not working, the brakes pulling a little to the left, and a slightly off-center steering wheel. The work was reportedly done by two Jaguar Clubs of North America judges, but this isn’t a car you’d put on a concours field. It’s an attractive driver. Located in Arizona.
Market commentary
Offering an expensive car at no reserve during these hectic times is a bold move, but that’s what the seller did here, and nobody swooped in to steal this car. This result is a sensible balance between the car’s strengths and shortcomings. For reference, it sold for $77,000 in Scottsdale nine years ago and more recently it sold for $110,000 in Scottsdale this January. We rated it in #3+ condition at the time.
