Equipment
1 of 12 factory lightweight XKEs, 1st in class at 63 Sebring, then sold to Howard Gidovlenko, war hero, X2 pilot and unlimited Hydro racer, who never finished preparing it for Daytona 64. It is misleading to describe this car as unrestored but its recent reworking by Lynx was so careful and sympathetic that it is equally misleading to describe it as anything else. Historic race ready and largely as raced in 1963.
Market commentary
Bought at RMs Monterey Sports Car Auction in August 98 for $933,147 after 35 years in Howard Gidovlenkos garage. Fantastic condition and impressive attention to preserving its originality (e.g., it still has the factory piston rings and valve springs) while making it ready to compete in historic racing. Fast as a GTO and more rare than any of them. Expensive, but unique. Philippe Reyns, Chandler, AZ (also XKSS 754 and XKC 028)
