Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Chrome spoke Borranis, Silver hardtop. Owned by Ken and Marie Thomas, a Snap On dealer, from 1972 until earlier this year. Well and consistently maintained for years, with decent old repaint (75 Ford Dark Red), worn but sound interior. Mostly original, known history and very special.

Market commentary

After Bill Rugers completely original LWB Cal Spyder brought $1,217,500 at Christies last summer hopes stirred for big money for this car. A SWB, it should have attracted a couple hundred thousand more even though it isnt as original as Rugers LWB. Rumored to have sold to a German dealer post block for ~$1.4 million, in which case he has room for a reasonable Euro profit.
