Equipment
Disc brakes, Kumho Solus tires, two tops, Hella fog lights, dash clock, Euro headlights.
Condition
#4 Fair
Has visible flaws to the naked eye. Runs fine, but could use mechanical or cosmetic attention.
Dull, peeling paint. Heavily scratched original hard top. Significantly worn but complete interior with ripped upholstery. Pitted chrome. Glass is scratched up, especially on the hard top. Grubby undercarriage. Bad older repaint in gray in place of the original Ivory it came with. A mess, but at least a largely complete and original mess. European delivery, so it has the desirable full-lensed headlamps and factory fog lights. Has been in the same Puerto Rican family since 1974. Mileage exceeds what is indicated. Described as 'worn-in but not worn out'. Solid, desirably equipped candidate for a restoration, but too shabby to be really enjoyed as-is.
Market commentary
Even discounted for originality, the new owner paid generously for this tired old 300SL. The lengthy and expensive process of making it road-worthy and reasonably reliable will soon make this a highly expensive car. It's likely to be a painful and expensive ownership experience.
