Equipment
Excellent cosmetics, careful race prep. First owner Bob Holbert won several times, then owned by Tom Payne and Millard Ripley. Restored in the late 90s for Warren Eads. Later 1700cc Typ 547 engine. Freshly tuned, new fuel cell, brake and clutch master cylinders. Largely original bodywork. Clean, sharp. Needs nothing.
Market commentary
Consignment 80. Beautifully restored and maintained, with an illustrious early U.S. history, this RS61 leaves nothing at all to be desired. It initiated a serious bidding contest between two on site bidders, pushing steadily past its high estimate before being hammered sold to Bob Pass who, it later turned out, was bidding on behalf of Sir Stirling Moss. The evenings high point and a benchmark sale.
