Equipment
1,098cc BMC engine, dual SU carbs, roll hoop, Cooper three spoke steering wheel. First campaigned by Ken Tyrells team and tied for the 1961 Formula Junior European Championship driven by Tony Maggs, then sold to Steve McQueen who used it to win several races before movie executives forced him out of the drivers seat. Excellent paint, bodywork and mechanicals. Small nick on top of roll hoop. McQueens name announced in large vinyl lettering across the top of the bodywork. A fine, drum braked historic racer. No Reserve.
Market commentary
Though not nearly as remarkable as the 911 that appeared in the movie Le Mans and reached a seven figure sales price, this Coopers association with Steve McQueen resulted in a more than two fold increase in price over a normal T 56 FJ. A nice car, this, but very expensive with or without McQueen.
