2.5 liter 285hp Coventry Climax FPF with 58DCOE Webers, Jack Knight 5 speed. Built from Cooper kit by Ecurie Ecosse, raced by Salvadori in 60, then Jackie Stewarts first pro drive for Major Thompson in 63 64. Stewart wadded it up in a ball at Oulton Park 4 64 and converted to F Libre racer by Bill Stein. Purchased by the seller at Gleneagles in 70 for $2,764(he was 9 years old); restored to Monaco style in 95 by Akin with new body, Wenz engine. Vintage raced and shown since. Very good cosmetics, very clean and race ready. Chassis plate is from the Cooper Car Club.

Market commentary

As the result indicates there was plenty of interest in this car on Friday, otherwise a rather slow night at RM Monterey. A beautifully presented car with a great history that fully deserved both the crowds enthusiasm for it and the substantial price it achieved.
