Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Rescued from Australia by Tom Wheatcroft, restored by Hall & Fowler and long a part of the Donington Collection. Believed to be a 1959 Cooper team GP car, shipped to the Antipodes for the Tasman series and fitted with the 2.7 liter Coventry Climax engine used there. Meticulously restored to as raced condition but not used recently and needs careful recommissioning. Chassis not known.

Market commentary

Having no chassis history severely limits the potential value of this car, no matter how much its authenticated by experts. However, since it has no history its also saved from being an irreplaceable artifact and can be responsibly and enthusiastically used in historic races. All things considered, then, this is an exceptionally good value, bought at a hammer bid 10% under Christies low estimate.
