Market commentary
This car was Dark Blue when it sold for CHF 73,980 ($50,156) at the Brooks Geneva auction in 1998 but the current White by the time it sold at Bonhams Monaco auction in 2003 for $73,472 (Euros 61,900). It was bid to CHF340,000 on the block here before selling at this value post block. The earlier transactions were without benefit of the story about the special engine, which contributed a huge bump to the value of the car on top of the recent rapid price escalation of Pf coupes generally. The buyer obviously accepted the LM spec engine story at face value to pay this much, an awe inspiring price for a Pf Coupe, no matter whose foot once controlled the butterflies of its engine. .
