Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Silver Borranis. 1958 MM Rally, Coppa Inter Europa and Italian GT Championship winner with Luigi Taramazzo; owned by John Starkey and documented in his TdF book. Restored by DK Engrg in 1993 and now showing some age and use but exceptionally clean and well maintained, with excellent cosmetics in generally like new condition.

Market commentary

The Tour de France is rapidly becoming one the most popular early Ferraris, with good reason as they are superb automobiles on both road and race track. This cars successful competition record is backed up by an excellent and caring ownership history that pushed its price, with good reason, to the top of the TdF range and well above its result at Coys London auction in 1992 where it sold for $497,608 before restoration.
