Equipment
347 315hp fuel injection, automatic, P S, P B, WonderBar radio, power antenna, P S, P B, P seat, P top, spinner wheel covers, wide whitewalls. An impressive older AACA National First Prize and 1995 Senior winning restoration let down by the plastic bag on the front seat containing the FI fuel pump shaft and a note saying theres no coolant in the engine because the cylinder head and intake manifold gaskets leak.
Market commentary
Neglect is the enemy of car collectors. This Bonneville is an object lesson. It was sharp, despite the years, when it sold at RMs Boca Raton auction in 2003 for $106,000. Its problems were manifest when it sold here just six months later for $96,800. Six years have done it no favors and as a non running FI car it should have struggled to reach its low estimate. Instead it is the only car at RM Meadow Brook to bring over the high estimate. Is it Michigan Pontiac envy, a fascination with a new orphan The buyer better hope for an orphan bounce because this is a LOT of money for an FI Bonneville that doesnt run.
