Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

The first Lotus single seat Formula car, with 1960cc Coventry Climax FPF in front, as in GP Lotus 12s in 1958. Vintage race proven with safety updates and improved reliability (never a Lotus GP strongpoint). Engine rebuilt by Climax in 97.

Market commentary

From the Climax FPF to the wobbly wheels, an evocative example of the early Lotus years, as raced by Graham Hill and Cliff Allison. Bought at the low end of Coys $139 165,000 estimate.
