Equipment
RHD. Short nose, tail fin, covered passenger seat, single wraparound screen, polished Dunlop knock off wheels. One of at least two XKD 530s, both with FIA papers. Catalog makes a strong case for this cars continuous history first with Kurt Lincoln of Scuderia Askolin in Finland where it stayed with various owners until acquired by Nigel Moores in 1966. Restored by Williams & Pritchard probably with a new monocoque and long nose and new engine, ex works 3.8 liter spare with WA head still with the car. Rebodied as short nose for the present owners in 1990 and raced extensively since. The other XKD 530 is based on the monocoque and body panels replaced by Williams & Pritchard and the origil engine and gearbox. Well turned out and historic race ready. Comes with documentation from Kurt Lincolns ownership period.
Market commentary
This D type would probably be worth twice as much if it were the only claimant to the identity of XKD 530. But it isnt. The controversy over the dueling FIA papers will probably be resolved by benign neglect, letting both cars, each with significant claim to the identity, carry on with parallel lives but denying them potential buyers and participation in events in the others sphere of FIA influence. Its a controversy that wont be resolved until one person buys both and merges their identities into a single XKD 530 and an admitted bitsa.
