Equipment
Incomplete Paul Grist restoration ready for freshly rebuilt engines installation and final finishing. No interior, status of trim and chrome uncertain. Paul Kunkel collection. Subsequently reported in C&SC0202 (p.6) to have been bought by Adolfo Orsi for an Italian client and believed to be the first Zagato A6G 2000 and 55 Turin show car, first owned by Kenneth Siimpson in Sta. Barbara, CA.
Market commentary
Judging from the result realized, over double Bonhams low estimate, all the bits must be there. If not, this is crazy money. In fact, this is pretty crazy even with the bits. $368,500 bought 2118 in Monterey two years ago; $281,400 bought 2112 at Brooks in Monaco the same year. $317,400 bought the somewhat ugly 2155 at Poulain in Paris a year ago. No doubt that these are the flavor of the year, but this still is a huge price for a project.
